PARIS HILTON'S MILLIONS!

From Paris to Berlin - She'll be lucky to make it to Bognor!

Paris Hilton's theoretical bank account took a huge hit yesterday when her grandfather, billionaire Barron Hilton, decided to donate 97 percent of his fortune to a charity set up by his father, Conrad. The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation was created in 1944 to support various goodwill causes including improving the quality of water in Africa, educating blind children, and housing for the mentally ill.

Prior to his decision, Paris was expected to inherit roughly $100 million dollars -- her share of the $2.3 billion dollars that Barron was to leave to his eight children and grandchildren. However, under the new redistribution of wealth, she will receive about five million dollars.

SPARKY'S MAGIC PIANO

Sparky's Magic Piano are a Popplastic tip for 2008!

Sparky's Magic Piano are a London indie-pop/electro band. Boy/girl harmonies, glockenspiel, the odd recorder and electronic beats and synths by the truck load.

The majority of Sparky's Magic Piano's debut album is delicate electro pop similar to those Saint Etienne produced bands that appeared in the beginning of the 1990's like Supermarket or Golden. This is clearly evident throughout the album and on songs like Mend or Something Somewhere it really stands out.

We like the "Coffee Song" . . .

LUCKY SOUL - LIPS ARE UNHAPPY!

In an effort to bring do-it-yourself culture to the UK Charts this Christmas – Lucky Soul were in a bid to make it to number one for the Christmas Charts this year (never mind, there's always next year). Their single 'Lips Are Unhappy,' backed with their cover of festive favourite 'Lonely This Christmas,' just to keep it topical is being released as a bundle for 40p. Yes – a whole forty pence. That's hardly going to break the bank is it? And all proceeds go to War Child.

Lucky Soul are a Sixties-tinged six-piece from London fronted by the beautiful Ali Howard, whose voice, with its interplay of fragility and power, brings to mind Sandie Shaw.

EUROVISION 2008!

It's that time of year again!

The season is upon us!

Yes, it's the beginning of the Eurovision season. We opened the first door on our "Eurovision Calender" today, we got a chocolate Shirley Clamp giving the baby Carola a golden wind machine! Tomorrow's has got a Kikki Danielsson giving her Eurovision bells a ding ding!

Only 151 shopping days til the big day!

The season's got off to a roaring start already. Only two doors open, the Albanian door and Andorran door and both countries have selected surprisingly good songs.

Eurovision 2008 Albania | Olta Boka - Zemren e lame peng

Olta Boka, is clearly chuffed to bits to be representing her country at Eurovision 2008, though she is clearly vexed by her lack of suitable attire and will no doubt be beating a path to Tirana's H&M! Lovely song - Well done Albania!

EUROVISION 2008 Andorra | Gisela - Casanova

Gisela will also be making a much needed trip to H&M, that sort of liberal dress code may well be acceptable in Andorra but Belgrade is an altogether different story, the Serbs aren't known for their inclusiveness, just ask their neighbours!

12 points to Andorra though from Popplastic, what a fantastic song!

Where the popplastic is Andorra anyway . . .

"He's definitely on target to sell at least 250,000, possibly 300,000 copies, which will make it the fastest-selling single of the year.

MORE LEON - THE INTERVIEW

LEON, LEON, LEON, LEON!

We just can't get enough of the X-Factor winner here at Popplastic Towers!

Leon, the interview!

Congratulations on winning. Are you still in a state of shock or has it started to sink in yet?
Thank you. I’m slowly but surely starting to digest it.

You worked with both of the Minogues, how did working with Kylie compare to working with Dannii?
I worked with Dannii on a more personal level because she’s been my mentor throughout the series and I just worked with Kylie on the one performance. It was great to work with both of them.

If you had to be stuck on a desert island for a week with either Rhydian or Same Difference, which of them would you choose and why?
Same Difference because they would keep me from going insane – even on a desert island they’d probably be happy.

Were there any contestants you really bonded with during the series and any that you didn’t gel with?
I’d say Andy Williams was my best friend on the show. I got on with everybody – it was brilliant.

You’ve just signed a million-pound recording contract – what’s the first thing you are going to buy for yourself?
I haven’t thought that far ahead but I always said I’d look after my mum first so I’m going to get her a car and will then probably treat myself to a car.

How will you be celebrating Christmas?
I’ll be back home spending time with my family and having a nice meal.

What advice would you give for someone who’s going to enter The X Factor next year?
Just go for it and you never know what can happen. So long as you work hard you never know what you can achieve.

If you could choose anyone to sing a duet with who would it be?
Probably Jamie Cullum. I would love to work with him or Paolo Nutini.

We’ve had some marriage proposals for you. Have you got any romance in your life at the moment?
(Laughs) No, not at all. I don’t think I’m ready to settle down just yet.

Is it true that you borrowed Marti Pellow’s microphone for the final for good luck?
No, there was some speculation about that in the media but it wasn’t true. I never knew anything about that. I did meet him though on the set of The Xtra Factor a few weeks ago.

What are the judges like backstage? Do they have any bad habits?
Not that I know of. Backstage they tend to stick to their dressing rooms. All the judges are lovely.

Have you any backstage gossip? Is there anything going on between Simon and Dannii?
Not that I’ve seen. I don’t know.

Are you going to follow in Leona’s footsteps and take some time out to record your album?
Obviously that’s not just my decision to make but I think if I take more time to record it I will produce a better quality album.

Do you think you will go down the ‘swing’ route with your music?
I think we’re looking at doing some original songs – I’ve got different aspects to my voice that you might not have seen because we had to sing songs that would appeal to the ITV1 audience. I really like the style of James Morrison’s music – I’d be interested in doing something like that.

It looks like you are going to be Christmas number one – what’s your all-time favourite Christmas number one?
White Christmas

How does it feel to put your town Whitburn on the map?
It’s just fantastic. It’s such a small village and I’m proud to say that I come from there and that I’ve done them proud.

What was your scariest moment on The X Factor?
The first live show.

And did it get easier as the weeks went on?
Definitely. Because I was doing it more often I became more confident at it.

What’s your favourite football team?
Glasgow Rangers.

Would you considering doing a gig with the MacDonald Brothers?
That would be good – just a couple of the boys from Scotland, yes.

How do you think you will cope with your new-found fame?
I’m going to try and lap up every minute of it and enjoy myself but it’s going to take some getting used to.

There’s been a lot of speculation about problems with the voting lines during the final – what do you think about that?
Things like voting are out of my hands. I just did my best on the night and hope I’ve done everyone proud.

What are your immediate plans for the next few weeks?
I’ll be concentrating on promoting the single and then will be working on the album in the New Year. I’m also on The X Factor tour in February and March.

Leon, the nicest man in pop!

It's not our interview but we just thought we'd share it with you, click here to check out the original source.

RHYDIAN - FROM RHYD TO LIB!

FROM
RHYD
TO
LIB!

FROM RHYDIAN TO RHY-IDIOT TO RHY-DICULOUS!

The Sunday papers were full of Rhydian stories portraying him as a "fame hungry oddball", apparently Rhydian wears a black balaclava when he goes running in order to protect his voice.

The Latest rhydiculous story to emerge is that Rhydian was cheated out of victory by dodgy phone lines - as if!

Ofcom is investigating complaints that some Rhydian fans have claimed that they tried and failed to vote up to 10 times. "NEWS FLASH" fans of Leon had difficulty getting through on the phone line as well!

An Ofcom spokesman said viewers had "expressed concerns about the operation of the voting and many said they were struggling to get through", and that subsequently the results could not be relied upon.

Some radio stations in Rhydian's native Wales said they would boycott the winner's single and demanded a recount.

GET A LIFE!

SAME DIFFERENCE DO DISNEY!

Separated at birth!

Disney to sign X-Factor's "Same Difference".

Disney have asked Simon Cowell if they can sign up cheesy pop duo Same Difference for a ad campaign for the DVD release of High School Musical 2.

A Popplastic source said: "Disney have approached Simon about giving Sarah and Sean a contract to promote their DVD. They loved them on the show, especially when they sang a track from the film, and think they would be perfect to promote the sequel." The source added: "Same Difference have the energy and spirit which would be just right for Disney."

FREEMASONS!

We never thought we'd be fans of the Freemasons!

Sometimes you accidentally find yourself listening to the Top 40 on Radio 1 and you hear a song that you've just got to have!

Sunday night's show featured The Freemasons and Uninvited at Number 18!

The Freemasons "Uninvited" is actually a cover of the Alanis Morissette track. The Freemasons are a Brighton dance duo known for their stomping house tracks - hardly very popplastic! "Uninvited" features the vocals of Bailey Tzuke and is taken from their "Unmixed" album.

GIRLS ALOUD - THEME TO ST. TRINIAN'S!

Those "Girls Aloud" singles just keep on coming!

Monday sees the release of yet another G'aloud single, not that we're complaining,"keep them coming" - Set the G'Aloud single machine to rapid fire! The latest offering is the "Theme St. Trinian's" (from the movies).

The soundtrack includes two exclusive tracks by Girls Aloud, who have a cameo in the film. "Theme To St Trinian’s" is described as "a romping anthem for school girls (and certain others!) up and down the country" while "On My Way To Satisfaction" is more typical Girls Aloud pure pop. The soundtrack also includes "Three Spoons Of Suga" by the Sugababes - can't wait!

JUNIOR EUROVISION 2007

Loving those orange boots!

It's the night you've all been waiting for. . .

The X-Factor semi finals!

No, no, erm. . . Junior Eurovision!

Here's a few of our favourites . . .

Trust - Anders (Belgium Junior Eurovision Songcontest 2007)

That was actually really good, especially the piano bit!

Yiorgos Ioannides - I mousiki dinei ftera (Cyprus Junior Eurovision 2007)

That wasn't that bad either. We also thought Malta, Sweden, Belarus and The Former Yougoslavain Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)and country with the longest name in history did alright with their entries. (In a Juniour Eurovision kind of a way)

If that still wasn't enough for you click here to listen to preview clips of all 34709 songs, or was there just 17 of them, it seemed there was more. . .

The musical highlight of the night has to go to Katie Melua's interval act and her beautiful song, "If You Were a Sailboat" . . . .

It was the orange coat what won it. . .

BILLIAM!

Billiam have been described as Britain's newest Boyband, their debut single "Beautiful Ones" charted at number 32!

Billiam, are made up of Jordan, Jazz, Gee and Stephen. Their website says they're looking to change the face of pop! On the site the boys say, "For so long now there hasn't been a boyband with great vocal ability, tight dance routines and the looks to go alongside!" The boys go on to say, "Now there is!"

Billiam - Beautiful Ones

Much as we like "Beautiful Ones" our top Billiam track has to be "Boyz text Girlz", never mind poptastic it's chavtastic. It's a song dedicated to SMS love, the words are awesome, "your ringtone says one message received, so open up your mail and see that it's from me", it's a classic.
