SCOOCH

Scooch - Flying the flag (For You)

Scooch mania grips the nation! After 6 years of waiting they're back . . .

The BBC confirm that Scooch will be competing in Making Your Mind Up 2007 to represent the UK in Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest. Scooch will be performing "Flying the Flag (For You)" written by Russ Spencer, Morten Schjolin, Andrew Hill, Paul Tarry.

Russ from Scooch said: “Last year’s winners Lordi showed that it’s about the whole performance and that’s what we were always known for. “We decided to do it because we felt it was our job to bring Eurovision back to its former glory. The UK hasn’t done too well of late and we’re taking it back to pure pop music. “We’re the Buck’s Fizz for this generation – pure pop is going to bring the Eurovision back to the UK. “We’ve got a catching song, fantastic costumes and a great dance routine, but you’ll have to wait till the night for any tricks.”

To win the chance to represent the UK Scooch will be competing against the Big Brovaz, Brian Harvey, Liz McClarnon (former Kitten), Cyndi (not if Barbie has anything to do with it!) and Hawkins & Brown.

1980 - VINTAGE POP!

WOW! - Check this out!

Love is Alive - Duke and the Aces

A classic entry from the UK's 1980 A Song for Europe.

How on earth did this not win? It has everything, head turns, hand claps, chime bars and fantastic constumes. Not to mention some of the finest dance moves in pop history (all tried and tested in Glasgow's Polo Lounge).

Once you've watched you just gotta stand infront of the screen with your fingers on the FWD and RWD buttons getting those moves - especially 00:47 to 00:40.

Another great pop injustice - there must be laws on crimes against POP!

Happy Everything - Maggie Moon

Another classic pop injustice from 1980 - this didn't win either!

More of a swaying tune than Duke and the Aces stopming hit! Maggie Moone came equal first with Primadonna but lost on countback.

12 points to the Schlagerboys for bringing this to youtube!

Maggie Moone for MYMU 2007!

LUCKY - LUCKY TWICE

I should be so lucky!!!

I'm so lucky lucky, I'm so lucky lucky, I'm so lovely lovely, I'm so lovely lovely...

What meaning, what depth and so profound clearly a song from the heart!!! 12 points to Popplastics Scottish correspondent - Popmaximus for this awesome discovery!

How infectious is this! one of those songs you need to play over and over til you hate it, it's amazing - it's better than H&M!

LUCKY TWICE is a duo of two teenage girls. Hannah, 15 and Sofie 16 from Malmö (South Sweden).

It's another classic - LUCKY TWICE for Melodifestivalen 2008!

I can't stop singing it . . .

RAINBOW STAR

Direct from Göteborg Melodifestivalen semi-final. Another pure pop plastic hit from the mothership of pop aka Sweden! The opening song of the night written by Fredrik Kempe and performed by Regina Lund.

A rousing gay anthem:

Don't let them take your life
Don't let them win this fight
Don't let them change your ways
and take the smile of your face . . .

It could almost have been written for John Paul (Hollyoaks) and by the way JP, get over Craig, have you seen his cardigan!

How could this have come last, it's a pop injustice . . .
