Having sat through the entire Eurovision Dance Contest the only stand out feature was the music that accompanied one of the Finnish performances. Originally by Metallica, The Unforgiven has been given a very Finnish makeover.
Apocalyptica is a Finnish group consisting of three, (there was a fourth) classically trained cellists and a drummer. Their speciality is heavy metal music on cellos, it could only happen in Finland!
Following in the footsteps of Take That and the Spice Girls former pop group S Club 7 are set to reunite! Apparently Rachel Stevens is said to be envious of the success of Take That since they reformed last year and the Spice Girls, whose forthcoming reunion tour has generated massive media coverage. Speaking at Vodaphone Music Awards, Rachel said, "Pardon the pun...but bring it all back. We're all still in touch."
S Club were Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo (Don't mention Celeb Big Brother or Shilpa Shetty) O'Meara and Hannah Spearritt. They sold over two million albums during their five year career before splitting in 2004.
Big Brother 2007 house mates, The Twins are set to release their very own version of Aqua's Barbie Girl! The girls have clearly tried to give their own particular take on the song, it's very . . . . pink! They're a kind of English version of the Cheeky Girls, without the cheekiness!
Britney Spears has been charged with hit-and-run and driving without a valid licence and could face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanour charges, more a case of, hit me baby one more time! Well she did say, sometimes I run, sometimes I hide . . .
Yah! Kylie Minogue (Princess of all things Pop) is back with her first new single in two years - "Two Hearts". The track is taken from her tenth album and is scheduled for release on November 5th! Two Hearts was written by British electro-pop band Kish Mauve.
Popplastic are just loving all things Australian at the moment, or at least Australian inspired. We're still playing The Sheilas on continuous repeat but even more exciting Popplastic's top correspondent, Popmaximus (of Lucky Twice fame)recently discovered the "Young Divas" whilst travelling in his ute through the outback!
The Young Divas are an Australian pop group consisting of former Australian Idol contestants with a bit of a thing for 80's pop, they're a kind of Liberty X meets Hazel Dean and Donna Summer. The Young Divas are, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Paulini Curuenavuli, Kate DeAraugo and Emily Williams, Emily was formerly a forklift truck operator in a factory - very Home and Away!
In 2006, the Divas recorded a version of the Donna Summer song This Time I Know It's For Real. The demo proved to be so successful that it was released for airplay in June, 2006 and since then the girls have gone platinum!
Stock Aitken & Waterman are back with The Sheilas of Sheila's Wheels fame and their awesome debut single "I'm so Happy Happy You're Mine". It's the very definition of plastic pop. It's got a bit of the Lucky - Lucky Twice about it and just leaves you wanting more. Infectious pop!
Gimme More is Britney's comeback single. Produced by Justin Timberlake "Gimme More" is more of a dance track than classic Britney plastic pop but it definitely leaves you wanting more.
On the subject of, what ever happened to . . . What ever happened to Leona Lewis? Popjustice have revealed that she's back and about to release the first single from her new album.
"Bleeding Love" is set for release on October 29. Apparently she's also recorded a track with Whitney Houston which has been described as awesome!
With all the excitment surrounding the up and coming release of the new Girls Aloud single our memories were suddenly cast back to Pop Stars The Rivals. What ever happened to the rivals - Boys Aloud (One True Voice OTV) - nothing! But they did have one fairly decent single, Scared Trust which charted at number 2!
Wow, like buses you wait for a good new pop single then they all come along at once - Pop fights back! The G'aloud are back with their new single, Sexy! No No No. Released September 3rd. It's very Girls Aloud and we love it!
Girls Aloud - Sexy! No No No
Though nothing will ever beat Whole Lotta History - A true Popplastic classic up their with the Spice Girls and Viva Forever!
Girls Aloud - Whole Lotta History
I'm damned if I do and I'm damned and if I don't ...
More like proper credible music than popplastic trash but we're lovin' Candie! Compared to the likes of Dusty Springfield and Nancy Sinatra, Candie is the sister of former Stands frontman Howie Payne and Sean Payne, the drummer of The Zutons.
Wow! What a week for fabby gossip on new releases, X Factor's Shayne Ward is back with a great new single. If That's OK With You is the first single from his new up and coming album. Since hearing the news of the forthcoming release from one half of the boys from Schlager Towers it's been on repeat here at Popplastic Towers, it's more than OK with us, we think it's awesome and we're loving the inclusion of Alvin and the Chipmunks as backing singers! Alvin, Simon - Theodore!
OMG! Those Lucky Twice girls are back with a new single Hop Non Stop, could life be any better! Not only that, there's also an album - Young and Clever - 'cause they are!
OMG! The babes have got a new single coming out and naturally the girls wanted to talk exclusively to Popplastic!
The Babes are back with a new single - About You Now - the first track from their as yet untitled 5th studio album. Popjustice have said "it's amazing and called it "a barnstorming pop-electro-rock masterpiece", but more importantly Popplastic think it's Stifftastic with a particular relevance and we can't wait to hear it in full! Even the radio release date is about you!
The Babes official website describes it as melodically captivating and it's chorus utterly hypnotic. ‘ABOUT YOU NOW’ is an anthem for anyone who’s ever chucked everything away then immediately regretted it – or anyone who’s ever wanted to hear those words from someone else’s lips.
Available for download from September 24th or hear it first on Jo Whiley's Radio 1 show, Tuesday 14 of August.
1,500 Philippine prisoners dance to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in Cebu, Philippines. Among their other hits are “I Will Follow Him” from Sister Act and “Hail Holy Queen” from Sister Act 2 and they also performed Queen’s “Radio Gaga”. Their next routine is set to be a re-working of the Vanilla Ice classic, Ice Ice Baby.
Flags are flying at half mast at the Popplastic Towers Complex and we're all wearing black (the new black though - tres chic) until further notice. We just can't believe the news that after 6 years Liberty X will be no more. Popplastic have followed their fortunes since they lost out on Popstars back in the days when they were just plain old Liberty!
Liberty X - Just A Little
Popplastic's favourite Liberty X song of all time has to be . . .
