Wow, we were so excited to see the new Greggs the bakers advert, well as usual it's not so much the advert but the song. It was great to hear Maybe Tomorrow again, most of us remember it as the theme tune to The Littlest Hobo and singing along to it back in the 80's. Of course the real poppers among us will also recall it as an amazing single by 90's group Scooch.
Here's the advert...

Here's the Littlest Hobo opening credits...
The Littlest Hobo
Originally by Terry Bush it will forever be a Popplastic classic...
Apparently there's been a bit of a fuss on the web about a recent entrant on this years series of Britain's Got Talent!
48 year old Susan Boyle from West Lothian wowed the judges with her performance of I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables. She announced from the stage that her dream was to emulate West End star Elaine Paige.
It has had over five and a half million hits on YouTube!
Here she is...

During a recent visit to a random music store, Popplastic made a fantastic Swedish discovery.
We discovered Secret Service, a Swedish pop group from the early 1980s. Secret Service was formed in 1979 by Ola Håkansson, Tim Norell and Ulf Wahlberg, they even entered a track in Melodifestivalen!
Ireland have chosen a great song for the first time in a very long time. It's a great pop song that reminds us of a host of other chart hits and groups of late. We could just imagine Girls Aloud singing this...
"Ireland goes with a all-girl pop-rock band Black Daisy and the young female singer Sinéad Mulvey. According to them they will 'rock Russia' with their song Et Cetera!" - Eurovision.tv
Popplastic are nominating Shania Twain for a Nobel Peace Prize for her outstanding contribution to global economics!!!
While listening to Shania's 2002 hit Ka-ching we were left dumbfounded at her amazing insight into global macro economics, Shania for one seemed to have for seen the credit crunch of 2008/09
She said...
We live in a greedy little world-- that teaches every little boy and girl To earn as much as they can possibly-- then turn around and Spend it foolishly We've created us a credit card mess We spend the money that we don't possess Our religion is to go and blow it all So it's shoppin' every Sunday at the mall
All we ever want is more A lot more than we had before So take me to the nearest store
[Chorus:] Can you hear it ring It makes you wanna sing It's such a beautiful thing--Ka-ching! Lots of diamond rings The happiness it brings You'll live like a king With lots of money and things
When you're broke go and get a loan Take out another mortgage on your home Consolidate so you can afford To go and spend some more when you get bored
All we ever want is more A lot more than we had before So take me to the nearest store
The next stop on our whistle stop tour of Eurovision 2009 favourites is Greece which sees the welcome return of Sakis (Shake It) Rouvas. Stakis wowed everyone with his fabulous song Shake It back in 2004. This year Stakis is back with This Is Our Night, it's another amazing high energy track which should guarantee him a top 10 placing.
We Love it, here it is...
Sakis Rouvas - This Is Our Night (Greece)
Here he is shaking it back in 2004!!!
Sakis Rouvas - Shake it(Eurovision2004)
Greece is another country that usually manages to deliver a fabulous track year on year for Eurovision. Our favourite Greek entry of all time has to be Anna Vissi back in 2006 with Everything. One of the most magical eurovision moments of all time, the atmosphere at the venue was electric...
Next stop on our tour of Eurovision 2009 favourites is Sweden.
The country that gave us IKEA, H&M and ABBA has delivered yet again! Sweden never fails to deliver the contest with a trully outstanding enrty, and this year is no exception.
La Voix (The Voice) by Malena Ernman is a pop-opera sensation! Written by Popplastic favourite Fredrik Kempe, it's classic Kempe with undertones of Disco Volante, Vincero and even a hint of Rainbow Star.
Malena looks like she just stumbled out of the wardrobe after a brief spell in Narnia but she delivers an amazing performance and must stand a real chance of winning.
Here it is...
Malena Ernman - La Voix
amamzing!!!! best Swedish entry for years.
It does have a definite hint of Melodifestivalen 1989's Nattens drottning...
Melodifestivalen 1989 - Melodi nr 9 - Nattens drottning
It even reminds us of ITV's Euro 2008 title sequence...
With Eurovision 2009 little more than a month away we thought it was time to begin our countdown of our favourite 2009 entries.
Iceland's entry kicks off our countdown for this years competition.
Clearly the reason behind the bankruptcy of Iceland's banking system and subsequent collapse of the country's economy is because they spent all their money on this years song - IT'S AMAZING!!!
Here's Jóhanna Guðrún singing her entry, Is It True...
Popplastic have spent the afternoon in the confessional box, we were hoping we'd be confessing to the late Father Kieron from Hollyoaks (God rest his soul) but we reckon it was more likely to have been Dr Fox.
Our sin, one of the greatest, liking credible music!
We recently stumbled across One Day Like This by Elbow and just couldn't get enough of it, it's, it's fabulous! But oh so wrong!
Anyway after our afternoon in the confession box we were told to go, never listen to it again and to do 10 Hail Mary's, so we left and had 10 Bloody Mary's instead, we're confident it'll have the same redeeming qualities.
Anyway here's the offending article...
Elbow - One Day Like This
Didn't Elbow win the Mercury music award last year? I'm sure they did.
It's the start of a slippery slope, soon we'll be posting Metallica songs...
We loved the recent Barclaycard contactless card ad but for some reason never assumed it was a real song, but it is!!!
Here's the ad...
Barclaycard Waterslide Advert
The ad features Let Your Love Flow by the Bellamy Brothers, it even made it to number 1!
Here's the song...
Bellamy Brothers - Let Your Love Flow
It's a bit 5,6,7,8, line dancey, straw on the floor but we love it!!!
The Bellamy Brothers are an American pop and country music duo composed of brothers David Milton Bellamy and Homer Howard Bellamy both from Florida. Let Your Love Flow made it to Number 1 on the Billboard 100 back in 1976.
Here's the official video for the Jade Ewen's UK entry for Eurovision 2009!
Jade Ewen: My Time
and if you feel like singing along here's the lyrics...
I've been down, down so long But those days are gone now I've got the will, I've earned the right To show you it's my time tonight
It's my time, it's my time My moment, I'm not gonna let go of it My time, it's my time And I'll stand proud There's nothing I'm afraid of I'll show you what I'm made of Show you all it's my time now
I'll break through, I've made my move And my faith is strong now I've got the heart to reach the heights To show you it's my time tonight
It's my time, it's my time My moment, I'm not gonna let go of it My time, it's my time And I'll stand proud There's nothing I'm afraid of I'll show you what I'm made of Show you all it's my time now
I've got the will, I've earned the right Tonight, tonight
It's my time, it's my time My moment, I'm not gonna let go of it My time, it's my time And I'll stand proud There's nothing I'm afraid of I'll show you what I'm made of Show you all it's my time now
